How to Become a Pilot at Ideal Aviation

Private Pilot Certificate

In St. Louis

Ideal Aviation believes that anyone with a passion for flying can become a pilot with the right training, dedication, and support. Watch our video by Bill Macon that outlines the three main tests you need to pass to obtain your pilot's license: the medical exam, written test, and flight test (check ride).

We believe that the key to your success lies in our commitment to providing the highest quality flight training available, with a focus on safety, professionalism, and individual attention.

Step 1. Medical Exam

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires all pilots to meet certain medical standards to ensure that they are physically and mentally fit to fly. At Ideal Aviation, we understand that the medical exam can seem daunting, which is why we provide support and guidance to our students throughout the process.

We work closely with certified aviation medical examiners and will be able to link you up with an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). Our experienced team of instructors will guide you through the exam process, explain what the exam entails, and what conditions may disqualify you from obtaining a pilot's license. We'll provide you with tips on how to prepare for the exam, including what to bring, what to expect on the day, and how to deal with any potential issues that may arise.

Step 2. Written Exam

The written exam is the second step towards obtaining your pilot's license. It covers a wide range of topics, including regulations, airspace, weather, aerodynamics, and aircraft performance. The exam is designed to test your knowledge and ensure that you have a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to be a safe and competent pilot.

At Ideal Aviation, we understand that the written exam can be challenging, which is why we provide our students with comprehensive ground school training to help them prepare. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the study materials, providing you with a clear understanding of the concepts covered on the exam.

Step 3. Flight Exam

The flight exam, also known as the checkride, is the final step towards obtaining your pilot's license. It is designed to assess your ability to operate an aircraft safely and competently in various flight scenarios. The exam consists of both oral and practical components and is conducted by a certified FAA examiner.

Ideal Aviation provides our students with comprehensive flight training to ensure that they are well prepared. You can be confident that you're receiving the best possible training and support to pass the flight exam and become a licensed pilot. Our experienced instructors will ensure that you have everything you need to succeed.
